International Workshop on Parallel Evolutionary Computation
(PEC 2015)
CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION
As part of
The International Conference on High Performance Computing & Simulation (HPCS 2015)
July 20 – July 24, 2015
The Hilton Amsterdam Hotel
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Submission Deadline: April 15, 2015

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
Evolutionary Algorithms (EA) are one of the most important tools for complex systems evaluation. Some of the recent EA’s are Differential Evolution, Particle Swarm (Swarm Intelligence), Scatter Search, and Self-Organizing Migrating Algorithm, amongst others. Other techniques, such as Genetic Programming or similar techniques, are widely used today in order to get elegant solutions of complex systems. Examples of such systems can be seen in ordinary world around us and of course in almost every science discipline, including such “exotic” domains like the earth’s atmosphere, turbulent fluids, economies (exchange rate and stock markets), population growth, physics (control of plasma) and chemistry for example.
Computational complexity of many problems is so big that standard as well as evolutionary techniques, together with methods of HPC, have to be used to get results in real time. Together with such applications of EAs and HPC, there are theoretical questions about HPC, its possibilities, and use.
This track is to establish a forum for the presentation and discussion of recent trends in the areas of intersection of EAs and HPC for researchers, practitioners, students and academics.
The PEC Workshop topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
Evolution in Grid Mathematica
Parallelized Genetic Programming Techniques
Parallel Implementation of Evolutionary Algorithms
Hardware Implementation of EAs
Complex Networks and Evolution
Evolution and Cloud Computing
Evolution and Classical HPC
Application of Parallelized Evolution
Multi-scale, Multi-physics and Multi-goal Systems
Analytical Modelling and Performance Evaluation with EA Execution
Distributed EAs Solving Hard Real-life Problems
PAPER SUBMISSIONS
You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works on above and other topics related to evolutionary algorithms and high performance computing. Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. For Regular papers, please submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript, not to exceed 8 double-column IEEE formatted pages, and include up to 6 keywords and an abstract of no more than 400 words. Additional pages will be charged additional fee. Submission should include a cover page with authors' names, affiliation addresses, fax numbers, phone numbers, and all authors email addresses. Please, indicate clearly the corresponding author(s). Short papers (up to 4 pages), poster papers and poster (please refer to http://hpcs2015.cisedu.info/home/cts-2015-posters for posters submission details) will also be accepted. Please specify the type of submission you have. Please include page numbers on all preliminary submissions to make it easier for reviewers to provide helpful comments.
Authors are invited to submit a PDF copy of their manuscript to the workshop using the following link: xxx. In the form you fill out, please indicate that the submission is for PEC 2015 in the Notes/Comments field of the uploading form. If the submission is for a poster paper or short paper, indicate that as well on the manuscript and in the form's Comments field.
Only PDF files will be accepted, uploaded to the link above. Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their originality, relevance, significance, technical clarity and presentation. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper will have to register and attend the HPCS 2015 conference to present the paper at the workshop.
Proceedings
Accepted papers will be published in the Conference proceedings. Instructions for final manuscript format and requirements will be posted on the HPCS 2015 Conference web site. It is our intent to have the proceedings formally published in hard and soft copies and be available at the time of the conference. The proceedings is projected to be included in the IEEE Digital Library and indexed in all major indexing services accordingly.
If you have any questions about paper submission or the workshop, please contact the workshop organizers.
