The Amsterdam Academic Club was founded in 1995 on the initiative of Jan Karel Gevers. The then chairman of the Executive Board of the University of Amsterdam founded the club following the faculty clubs at American universities. The Club was primarily meant for scientific UvA staff and alumni. The building dates from 1870 and was initially designed as a waiting room for the pharmacy and outpatient clinic of the Binnengasthuis.

HPCS 2015 participants are invited to attend this reception and enjoy the evening in this historical venue. Please indicate your interest in attending this social event. We will go by bus from the Hotel and have open time after the reception.

Tuesday, July 21: An Open City Tour - Boat Tour Citytender

The HPCS 2015 social event will be an Amsterdam Boat Tour using Amsterdam's Citytenders. The Amsterdam Citytender is a classic and environmentally friendly boat. The electrically driven and the luxury interior makes it very special and synonymous to Amsterdam. The Citytender can be used to transfer groups from 20 to 45 guests, to and from several locations around the city. Because of the flexible furnishings, Citytenders are suited for a variety of purposes like canal cruises, wedding ceremonies, dinner cruises, receptions, business presentations and meetings.

This boat tour will take 90 minutes (19:00-20:30) starting from the conference venue, The Hilton Amsterdam. The cruise will include drinks and snacks. Reserve your seat as soon as possible using the HPCS 2015 registration system. The boat takes a maximum of 45 guests and it will be on first-come-first serve basis.

Price per person: 36 Euros (US$44).
